Philanthropy By Design
As Philanthropy By Design enters its 21st year in existence, we are grateful to our many supporters, donors and design professionals who have helped create wonderful, inspiring and health giving spaces for hundreds of Bay Area social service agencies. Everyday we receive applications from well deserving agencies around the Bay Area; as well as offers of donated furniture and products from businesses and private individuals. We are fortunate to have the donated warehousing services of Service West to help us sort through these donations.
Many of our most successful projects have been in collaboration with designers from ASID California North Chapter. We would like to invite you to take a look at some very exciting projects that we have on the books right now...and, get involved.
- Connecting Point is an agency that serves homeless families throughout San Francisco, and connects them to all of the various services, support, shelters and job training that is available to them. Their facility is in much need of space and program planning, color consultation and painting, and new furnishings.
- Survivors International is an agency that provides counseling and social services to international survivors of torture. They hope to create an additional therapy room and reception area that is parent and child friendly. They need a color palette that is warm and safe, a small sofa, comfortable chairs, rugs, blinds, a children's play area with picture books, coloring books, puzzles, etc.
- Women's Community Clinic is a free clinic serving more that 3,500 women a year. These women are affected by poverty and have no means to other health care providers. The Clinic offers a full array of health services, all provided by volunteer healthcare professionals. The Clinic will be moving into a brand new 6,000 sq. ft. facility in early 2009. They would like to work with a team of designers who can help them navigate through the design process, and make the best design choices going forward.
If you are moved to get involved with any of these worthy projects...PBD needs YOU!!! Please contact the Cal North office for more information and to see how you can become involved.
